Here are a few ways which can help keep your rheumatoid arthritis symptoms in check.

  • Create an ideal sleep situation: We all know that at night if we don’t follow our bedtime routine, our sleep may get chaotic and can flare up rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. Make sure that you follow your ideal bed time routine and sleep and wake up at your regular time.
  • Always eat a light dinner before hitting the bed: Heavy food has a way of bringing in a lot of discomforts while resulting in a disturbed sleep or even lack of it. Eating heavy at night does not help your already disgruntled joints and sets the pain further in motion.
  • Have a comfortable bedding: When you are comfortable while sleeping, your muscles and joints are relaxed too. Make sure your mattress and pillows are comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep.
  • Prop up your limbs: While sleeping if your joints feel little uncomfortable, do use pillows or other support to help prop them up. This will make your legs comfortable and can help relieve some of the arthritis rheumatoid symptoms from flaring back up.
  • Unwind before sleep: Do take a warm bath before sleeping if the weather is conducive. This will help you relax your muscles and joints and offer relief to the pain.
  • Exercise during the day: Be physically active during the day to keep your bones from stiffening up. This keeps your limbs in motion and helps combat pains. Do remember not to exercise at least 3 hours before sleep time as it can interfere with your sleep.
