Mice and rodents, like most critters, infest a house in search for food warmth and shelter. They generally enter our homes during fall and summer. Rodents usually enter our homes through smallest of the openings. Since we frequent doors and windows, they try to sneak in through places like vents, chimneys, and even through utility lines.

A single rodent or an infestation, it is necessary that you take precautions to eradicate the problem before it gets out of hand and becomes more of a menace.

Here are some of the tricks you can use for rodent pest control:

Natural methods:
Peppermint oil with its strong fragrance acts as a deterrent for mice in general and is hence considered an effective rodent pest control method. This scent prevents them from being able to smell and identify food, which is the main reason why they infest our homes. You can use small cotton balls dipped in this oil and keep them in the places where such rodents

Traps:
An online or any home store will give you an idea of the number of options available for mouse traps. There are simple caged mouse traps that will do the trick of catching the rodent. Apart from these conventional mouse traps, there are glue mats that you can order online or even get from your local stores.

Professional help:
If the rodent infestation is damaging your property and becoming more of a health hazard, it is best to seek professional help. They are far more specialized in rodent pest control methods and procedures; so it can be prevented in future as well.

All in all, while rodent problems are quite common, some can be easily tackled by yourself, and there are others that may require intervention by professionals. A little hygiene and careful monitoring can prevent such problems completely.
